perle-for-purleSabina B. Schürenberg, APCS member and recent presentor at the 2014 Amsterdam Annual Gathering, has written a new book on Swabian knitted beadwork. The book, Bead for Bead – Swabian Knitted Beadwork 1810–1935 was written in association with Städtisches Museum Göppingen im Storchen and it contains pictures of a number of purses from APCS members.

Sabina's book focuses on this cottage industry that was started in the early 19th century to generate work for a poverty-stricken population in southern Germany. The book is written in German, but does contain 1,567 color and black-and-white pictures including photos of the purses and the patterns used to create them.

The book is now available to be ordered from Shaker Media in Europe. For more information on the book and how to order it, check out Sabina's website.
