Some of the most colourful and unusual styles of dress and textiles from around the world were celebrated in our recent Vintage Costume and Textiles auction.
The sale attracted worldwide interest, with Chinese items, in particular, causing a bidding frenzy among internet buyers.
The showstoppers were the Qing dynasty scent purses which had been discovered by our textiles specialist Eppie Evans. She said: "When I first saw the purses I instantly knew they were something special; the craftsmanship, age and origin all highlighted that these items would be popular among collectors."
